Dirty Buggane
How much did the nomination cost us, yearly subscription to Wanderlust preferential members club small island group. Just like the green flags around Douglas, you have to join the scheme to be eligible and it ain't free.

Or has someone from DFE just clicked the add nomination button?

Ringy Rose
Sounds like one of those pay to win awards which are endemic in the gambling industry. Question is how much we paid.

What will cost the taxpayer is the tickets to the: behind-the-scenes tours of the Tate’s world-class collection of contemporary art, a reception taking over the Turbine Hall amidst Mira Lee’s 2024 special commission, gourmet cuisine, live entertainment, and an awards ceremony that will uniquely combine virtual reality, video, and sound. The reason why every category has so many nominees is so that thy can maximise the number of attendees who will mingle with and presumably consider themselves part of "the world’s foremost leaders in travel" while claiming they have to attend because they've been 'nominated'. It says You may notice the awards ceremony has moved to Wednesday night, to coincide with second day of the World Travel Market in London (which is three days) but it also means that some officials/politicians 'feel obliged' to stay the second night so as to attend.

emesde
Now if we could grow the population with an extra 15,000 civil servants all agreeing to sign that the IOM is the most desirable destination island, we might have a chance. If that doesn't work we could enter the best Island in the Irish Sea competition.

The land, the islet between the Calf and the mainland, is Kitterland. 5
