We also want to enable the library to better communicate that they do a lot more than just books. I don't think Henry Bloom Noble should be forgotten, he did a lot for the island...there again, people don't usually become rich by being nice on the journey e.g. Gubay. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Bloom_Noble

We obviously raised the point of dropping his name but the library wasn’t set up by him and only quite recently named after him. So it seemed good to give the team the opportunity to highlight all their services as part of the rebranding. The team does fantastic work every day. Dirty Buggane
They must of lost the claim against the the contractor who did the rebuild and did not put any ties into the concrete core of the building to hold brick work, a bit like Pevril buildings or what its called. You know where Noah bakery is now, used to have large lumps of steel outside so as to prevent cladding falling till they had the rather natty white finish. Only difference they did not lose the claim.

And the Trust. Given that the Library was about the only thing that Noble didn't provide for Douglas (he also gave them public baths and the Villa Marina) it seems perverse to name it after him - and fairly recent perhaps when it moved out of the Town hall in 2003[1]. But I still don't see how changing it again is a meaningful rebrand. [1] Officials needed new offices, councillors needed a big relaxing room. Who needs books?

Originally the car park was sloping shale and gravel. It was then made into two levels and tarmacced. Im pretty sure a second level was built later near to the back of the Lord Street flats. Perhaps that’s what we are remembering. I now agree the new car park was 2003
