Incidentally he also said that a large amount of the remaining workers' time is now spent rectifying problems caused by the private contractors who now do a majority of the work (without apparently much quality management)

well the water still leaks out the joint in the middle of the carriageways at glen helen, maybe they should try again.

For what it's worth I loved standing on my balcony and seeing this sign on the mountain. I mean its the national emblem.  What's wrong with that?

If you wish to have three flying ducks on the wall of your living room, that is up to you. No-one else gets to see them.

Planting three legs of man, or three flying ducks, on a hillside is something else. Not everyone else has the artistic sensitivity to be able to appreciate that kind of thing.

If you had one or two guys on it from spring you'd soon have most footpaths under control. It really doesn't take long to strim something as narrow as a footpath, especially if they haven't been neglected for years.

Birds wouldn't nest on the footpaths if they were kept under control.

I really don't think comparisons to the UK are helpful either, after a decade and a half of Tory austerity - if the best we can do is equal their public services then we are in the shit.

1 or 2 persons. Come on man. You are having a laugh. How many miles of footpaths do we have?

It would look great with 7 or 8 wind turbines up there too.

Not a bad idea, just like the 3 legs there will be many who object at first that soon grow to love them, any objections just paint them black.

And how many miles could they strim in a day, if it was kept on top of? How wide is a footpath, less than a metre.

Although if you're going to leave them for years and wait until late summer before starting, you're right, it would take ages.

Can't be painting them black, they wouldn't be visible to the endangered lesser-spotted Great Manx Shitehawks. They'd get all chopped up.

Wildlife people would be outraged.

No they would not be outraged, as hardly any birds die from wind turbines compared to window strikes, car strikes, cats etc,  only living in their mums basement mental cases come up with this sort of drivel.

There is 316kms. The rapid growth is April to July (depending upon the weather). No pint doing it before it's happened to that means June start. It's possible but saying 1 or 2 persons is just foolish. You can't trim hedgerows with a strimmer. Add in the fact that you can't cut back hedgerows from April to end September (wildlife act).

Why can you not trim hedge rows with a strimmer, these are not Black &Decker lawn edge trimmers were talking about. These thing's will take you leg off if no used with respect.  😫

What are we talking about then? Show me. I have never seen a strimmer that can be safely used horizontally.

You did not know you can rotate the head 90° (left or right) on a Stihl petrol strimmer.

Yes. But you cant put it up the the air. That would be incredibly dangerous. For hedges, you use a hedge trimmer. The clue is in the title. Not sure what point you are trying to make. Whatever you do its hard work and takes a long time.....especially clearing up the mess.

Brambles and nettles are the worst thing. The grow like crazy in late spring and early summer. Very difficult to keep up with.
