Rumble in Market Street last outside Elegance taxi firm

In a deeply shocking development, the police actually issued an appeal for information on the same day:

At around 4am this morning, Saturday 10th August 2024, outside Elegance Taxis on Market Street, Douglas, an altercation has occurred between a number of males.

Market Street was closed until 13:20 to enable Officers to conduct their enquiries. Inspector Michael Taylor said ‘ we would like to apologise for any inconvenience the closure of Market Street may of caused today, this is not a decision that is taken lightly however it is imperative that we secure all available evidence at the location to establish the facts of the matter which remain under investigation at this time’.

We would like to appeal to members of the public, who may have been in the area at the time, or anyone who has information regarding this incident to contact 01624 631212 quoting the reference number 97/5203/24.

Though as it was after 4pm, no one noticed at Manx Radio till this morning.

The fact that they were doing full forensics on the scene is a bit worrying as it suggests the 'altercation' may have resulted in serious injuries.  On the other hand, given how wildly disproportionate some recent policing decisions have been, it may just be that they think someone may have dropped a 0.5g wrap of cocaine.

When I used to go out on the beer for a party night, I used to just get merry, hungry and want to sit down for a snooze.

If people really cannot go out with having to wave a willy about and be 'hard' they should stop drinking.
