Thomas Dalby
Crookall’s not bright but Moorhouse would have needed a new level of hand holding, I think he actually would have been a nodding dog. I can completely see how it’s happened, but I think Cannan has lost control of the Treasury, I suspect regrets the budget and the story of the second half of his time as CM will be whether he can get control back on the question of health costs and how they are paid for in particular.

There is a distinction between Crookall and Moorhouse. Crookall is an unintelligent man; stupid if you like. Moorhouse is not stupid, but is hamstrung by his very limited horizons. He’s approached politics in the - not remotely original - manner of asking wave after wave of generally puerile questions, believing this to make him relevant. It doesn’t; it may play well with the grannies of Castletown but on the wider stage shows him to be both foolish and shallow. Crookall is an indisputably useless Minister. Moorhouse would be a largely useless Minister.
