A fool and his money.....
2 hours ago, joebean said: The TT and MGP are funded by DfE entirely on the grounds of being tourism events No they're not. Stop making stuff up. Motorcycle road racing is a huge part of the history, culture and folklore of the island. A massive part of our identity and part of what makes the island what it is. It would be a real shame to throw that away just because a grumpy old person likes whinging about a few road closures per year. You'd probably just move on to whinging about something else anyway. 3 2 1

Dirty Buggane
For years the TT was for the big boys,MGP was for the amateurs, who if they became good enough they progressed to the TT. MGP used to run 120 starters set off in pairs so as to get them all off before the leaders were coming back through start finnish line. Then they started to get TT winners entering with the big teams back up and it all changed, Derek who had entered the same bike for twenty years in fact it was the only race he did and he had to go as he was getting in the way of the semi professionals. And this was how it all changed in the name of progress and now its starting to be in jeopardy, go figure. 5

Which of the MGP races have former TT winners running either this year, or in any of the previous 10 years?

Tinpot
1 minute ago, Dirty Buggane said: What Are you getting confused between the MGP, which is still the same as it has been for as long as I can remember, and the Classic MGP which is a relatively new event that sees some of the TT stars racing? They are separate events and classes. The MGP races haven’t changed in decades and neither has the type of rider who competes. The classic MGP is born from the classic TT when the event was briefly the Festival of Motorcycling. Your moan sounds like a fairly poorly informed one from someone who doesn’t know much about the event and has based their opinion on moaning they have read on social media.

Dirty Buggane
Michael Dunlop,Dan kneen, Ryan Farquhar to to name but a few. Or is this the statement 2013 seen it change to the festival of motorcycling, so the mgp disappeared on paper at least. Or they now all have the prefix of classic, so no TT winners have won a mgp race. Semantics at best Edited August 26 by Dirty Buggane

I suggest you go and ask DfE why they fund the MGP. It has nothing to do with heritage or culture, if so, it would be funded by Manx National Heritage. It’s all about supporting the Visitor Economy. Nothing else. You are the one making stuff up. As for your comments about me, that’s your own prejudicial assumptions and again, nothing you know anything about. But crack on, if it pleases you. The junior and senior MGP races still run as feeder events with riders who aren’t typically TT riders as a feeder the same as they always have. They are separate races. Your point about TT stars impacting MGP as a feeder event is nonsense. Nothing has changed Edited August 26 by Tinpot
