Looked nice and is the type of tourism we need more of. These people spend actual money here and probably go back and tell their friends how great the place is.

It's been nice seeing the classic cars, especially British cars - they were generally so shite they disappear pretty quickly once production ceases so you don't get to see them often.

Slightly concerning that some people on here seem to grade tourists by how rich they are/ maybe.

I can see holding people upside down by their ankles and shaking them being part of our new border security regime at this rate.

IMHO we should start by just welcoming anyone who wants to visit.

You learn so much on Manx forums. 👍 However I understand why I got confused. The MK1 RS turbo is a MK3 escort? Is that right.

Sorry yeah. Not a Mk 1 escort. But a series 1 RS Turbo on the Mk 3.

I sadly remember back in 1981 a chap offered me a green 1974 Mk1 RS 2000 in mint condition for £400 unfortunately the insurance at the time was twice the price of the car and I bought a Honda CB250 motorbike instead, I have never forgave myself for turning down that offer. The guy who bought it turned it into a rally car and it was a real stunner. hindsight is a wonderful thing.🥲

Don’t start down the hindsight route with cars we either passed over or sold for far less than they are worth now.

I could have retired if I still had all my old vehicles.  80s and 90s stuff in particular goes for silly money these days.

The Mk 1 Escort looks so small when you see it today! Didn't seem so in it's day?

I seen and heard a red mk1 1600 GT the other day it looked absolutely stunning and the sound brought me back to my youth, small or not if I had the money I would have one in a flash I would need a lottery win nowadays to buy that car think the guy wants £35k for it. I do not think my wife would allow such an indulgence even if it turned back the years😁

They were very small. Sadly they were absolute piles of crap compared to modern cars. Very nostalgic to see them. I had a 1.1 Mk1 and a 1.3Mk2. The mk1 rusted to bits. The 1.1 had a massive 35hp.

A bit harsh to call them piles of crap compared to today’s efforts. If you strip a modern car of all of its unnecessary tech, there is not much difference.

You could hear (and smell) the Jags drinking petrol even standing still - without the engine running.

Luckily they are broken half the time which cuts fuel consumption by 50%.

I know tell me about it. I look with great interest now whenever the 80s & 90s classics come up. Was a stunning Sierra Cossy recently went for £100,000.

In my boy racer days I was generally VWs (Golfs, Sciroccos then Corrados) but had an Italian dabble with Alfa GTV and Lancia HF Turbo for a bit. Although I was much more appreciative the aforementioned RS Turbo than the most of the other cars yesterday.
