I’d say we should just scuttle her. 1

They were bank managers lending to a company they owned for a client. Exactly like IOM government. Ripping out high yields from interconnected debtors they have a priority charge over. Nothing has changed. Private bank funding to public bank funding. The Manxman is clearly an asset that will be sold as it is obviously not fit for purpose.

I realise I'm not a major user merely 1 return journey every month for last 16 years - it was extremely rare for the Ben not to run - admittedly some of the voyages were less than comfortable and in one I was the only one in exec club but it ran which was key. The Manxman has been many time worse - I admit it is considerably more comfortable but it must be costing considerably more than the Ben but short notice cancellations must be costly for all those that have come to rely on a regular service as the Ben after it's initial year has provided for last 20 years

Derek Flint
Maybe not quite yet, but if climate change continues on its current trajectory, narrower windows for sea and air travel might become the norm. Perhaps Boris's tunnel wasn't such a far fetched idea? It was certainly noticeable out in Hong Kong last week where big tunnels are connecting islands. There's a much more strategic outlook across the Far East. The British Islands / Eire could likely benefit from a similar approach. Not sure where the money would come from though!

monasqueen
Going back to what the MD said about Manxman's "incident" at Heysham, "The managing director of the Steam Packet Company has blamed 'tight entrances' at Heysham and Douglas." Hang on a minute, haven't those "tight entrances" been there since Adam was a lad? What planet's he on? Does he expect harbour entrances to be made bigger just because he's had a ship built that's too big to get through them? What's cheaper? Rebuild the harbour, or build a ship that fits? Derek Flint
Is the boat any bigger than the Stena stuff that sails out of there?

Holyhead is good for freight and passenger, also well protected in bad weather. but too close to Liverpool.
