Non-Believer
Perhaps somebody has realised that with the visitors oft-quoted costs of getting here, the race period/programme must be long and substantial enough to justify that expense. As others have said though, what has become of the reasons that were used to justify this year's schedules, the lack of medical cover and marshals? Marshal numbers can possibly be improved by recruitment, qualified medical cover may be more difficult to procure. And what of those whose reported/alleged agenda was to get rid of the event altogether?

Non-Believer
Let us not beat around the bush here either. For the aficionados the bikes and programme are what it's about. Elsewhere, repairing the self-inflicted drop-off in wonga is what it's really about.
Dirty Buggane
When will the TT be returning to its proper format ?.
joebean
I’m curious why the Classic TT was dropped in the first place. A lot of effort was put into creating it, largely to reverse the diminishing numbers attending the MGP. That worked, to a point and it is curious that a decision was made to reverse that initiative and leave the MGP to its own devices again. Numbers dropped and would, I suspect have been heading back to the sub-9000 visitor figures that prompted the Classic TT in the first place. Perhaps, DfE now think that the re-introduction of the Classic TT will re-invigorate passion for the event and attract the visitors, money and volunteers necessary to sustain the longer format. Politically, it would be unacceptable to allow the MGP to slip away without trying something to reinvigorate it first. It would be interesting to know what additional investment this will involve and where this money is coming from. I hope this does its bit to reverse the reported 12% drop in summer visitor numbers this year.
