Observer
... better still... invest in a few Pokie Machines. You'll be quids in by the sound of it. What exactly is a Pokie machine anyway? The same as our fruit machines??? Is it named that because you poke your loose change in it?? You southern hemisphere lot have some strange little colloquial habits :-)

Amadeus
Women Gamblers - Going For Broke springs to mind. Not a very exciting movie, but it portrays the problem very well and gambling addiction in general is still not being taken seriously enough... Declan
For some reason I have an overwhelming desire to point out that Women Gamblers should be re-named Womblers. Sorry. I resisted the urge since this thread started but I couldn't help myself. Maybe they should do do a study of people addicted to making bad-puns even when they know they aren't funny. Amadeus
...gambling addiction in general is still not being taken seriously enough... bet you it is! Some more public exposure would be nice then - we have warnings on ciggies, people debate about warnings on beer and other booze, but I haven't heard any politician mentioning gambling and it's dangers - only that Blackpool will be the "new Vegas"and how great that would be. And with Gambling, I don't mean the 2.50 e/w on the Grand National down at the bookies (some people work in that industry ) but mainly Casino and machine related issues, which seem to make out the majority of cases...
