Natural Disaster Fatigue?

How many people here donated to the Tsunami Appeal but haven't given anything to the South Asia Quake appeal?

 

I wonder what the differences are?

 

For me, more died in the tsunami, more countries were hit and many of the areas were tourist spots which you can identify with. Volatile Kashmir is not a place many of us would get a chance to visit.

 

Secondly, there have been a number of disasters and we're becoming thick-skinned and numb to it.

And probably, the media coverage has been more low-key.

 

Perhaps for some, they have less sympathy becuase of Pakistan's link to terrorism.

 

I'm wondering whether I should make a donation. Things only seem to be getting worse.
