From Energy FM News:

 

The Minister for Health and Social Security has come under fire for suggesting that people in receipt of the Winter Heating Bonus may spend it on Christmas goods if they are given the money in December rather than January.

 

Wouldn't the January sales be just as tempting?

 

I think the supplement itself is good and gives those receiving benefits more options, it doesn't really matter when it is paid out, at the end of the day the bills will still have to be paid at some point.

 

If people receive this benefit, perhaps they should bring a receipt to show the heating costs have been paid the next time they try to collect benefits??
