Contrary to belief, not all inmates could afford the 25,800 pound a year it costs to keep them locked up at her Majesty's pleasure.

When being awarded compensation after being incarcerated, and then later proven inncoent, it sad that an ammount is deducted for "accommodation". Why not means test criminals and make them pay?

 

That aside this appears to be quite a moral dilema. You dont want this guy to benefit in any way, but it is great that the victms get the chance at compensation.

Just drawing attention to the fact that loss of liberty means more than just being able to walk out of the door.
