FLASHING RED ALERT ON THE OXYMORON DECTECTOR.... :)

So, no-one's interested in golf then?

Woody Allen : "Golf, the only sport where a white guy gets to dress like a black pimp".

Taking the piss asside, - it wouldn't take that much to run even a small diesel train between the south of the Island & Douglas - train station is very near Athol Street (how would "Arnie" pronounce that one?) - would also be very easy to re-instate the railway line between Peel & Douglas (if Clarkson would allow the dog walkers back on "his" land!)

- I've almost got a manifesto there would anyone vote for me on this?????

Would also decriminalise cannabis (oop's, we've already practically done that - so no votes there then !!!)

Where would you run the line after leaving what is currently the TT access road? Presumably, it ran under what is now McDonalds and the Fire Station, or the NEC if it used to run on the other side of the river

The disused line is still there. Just about anyway. It is just a tad overgrown and runs between the maccy d's car park and the river bank

The re-instatement of the Douglas -St Johns-Peel line is often suggested - usually by those who have not walked along the trackbed

The line leaving Douglas (which was not the same as the Douglas Castletown) is built on at several places (eg near Fire station) - a level crossing at Quarterbridge would not be appreciated, the TT access road uses the trackbed though here it would be possible to embed rails in the road surface, the trackbed was used for a gas pipeline and cannot take significant weight without significant work, St Johns new school I think straddles the trackbed, also some of trackbed near Peel is built on and of course the house of Mannanan occupies the old station site.

Operating a diesel train on the Douglas Castletown section would be possible - the ex-Irish railways diesel cars appear to be operational again and similar (tho more modern) cars could be obtained from Poland etc which once had a an extensive NG network

what would help the traffic is a complete rebuild at Quarterbridge but this of course would disturb the sacred TT course on which it appears over 50% of raod maintainence money is spent.

Sod more road building. What's needed is better public transit. People living in Onchan or Douglas shouldn't be using their cars to get to and from work every day. IOM Transport is subsidized by the Govt.? Surely extra services can be provided by charging higher road taxes.

The solution for congested roads is not to build more of them.

so if lacey fergie stuffs the existing golf club members and starts a new "club" then surely if no-one joins his new club will soon go bust..then he will have a course with no income and so long as the planning people make sure there is no development allowed it will be him who gets stuffed - surely the existing golfers could find somewhere else to play until FG finds he has to sell up.

besides...what's happened to his plans for a hotel opposite the airport? where is it? any one down there seen any building work started yet??

when is the Golf Links Hotel going to close?? when are the dozzers going on site to demolish? when is the new building going to start??

likewise what about his plans for turning the old Post Office Headquarters building on Circular Road into a hotel?? what's the latest on that ?? all it ever gets used for is as a film location...

what about the Macrie Hotel on Skye? when is that going to be re-developed??

all examples surely of where he should either put up or shut up?? I mean to say how long can people be gullible enough to take anything he says without a very large seller of salt???
