captain jiggyflaps
Apparently I've heard from a friend of a mate that works with somebody in the corporation that Douglas is sinking due to the excessive integration of the iris scheme into the existing mains sewer, within five years it'll have been replaced with a swamp

manxchatterbox
if you look in the Stuart Slack book Streets of Douglas - Old and New for the entry under Lake Road you will see it all used to be a swamp down there...maybe that makes sense as to why the Corpy is moving out of its depot down there to higher ground.... manxchatterbox
no, its a very very good reference book that tells you all about different places in Douglas on an A to Z basis and which is useful to remind people about how the town has developed over the years with buildings and sometimes entire streets having been demolished...I fully recommend it as avery interesting read - not sure though if its still available...
