Mission
I don't think I've bought 10 new albums, not by individual artists/bands anyway. Most of what I bought this year was around March/April time and that was a stack of compilation albums from my clubbing days. The only one I can think of that is new is Gorillaz - Demon Days which is superb. I'm quite tempted to buy the Kaiser Chiefs album though so I might pick that up this week. Last Ten
And the difference is? Hi Declan The differnce is that one of James Blunt's singles, which is featured on the CD is the biggest selling download of all times... Quote BBC website; "His single You're Beautiful topped the quarter's singles chart and has also become the best-selling download of all time". - Clckety Here Declan... That is the difference Declan LT
Declan
And that proves what? Since when did sales and musical merit go hand in hand. You gave the example of Des O'Connor, to play down Simon's musical taste. And I asked what the difference was? Sales give no answer at all since Des's musical career is pretty successful too - - I pretend was a number one single - He has sold 15 million albums - Spent 117 weeks in the Top Ten. He has much in common with Mr Blunt, in that he makes excrutiatingly bad middle of the road pap, distinguished only by the purile sentimentality of the lyrics, and sells it by the tonne to undescerning people who don't like music very much. So I ask again what is the differnce?
modey
i think you'll find there is a big difference between the styles of james blunt and des o'connor. If you've ever heard them both i'm wondering how you can't see it

Ean
Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am - Thats What Im Not Cheat That's out on the 30th of January, not 2005. Heh as i was typing this When the sun goes down came on the radio. I think it'll be the best album of next year though. And In the James Blunt argument....imho it's over-hyped sentimental toss but hey if you like it i have no problem with that, horses for courses an all that. Throw Tomatoes at Blunt
