manxchatterbox
This from an Irish biz news web-site... BT Ireland today announced the introduction of a new EUR20 a month service to attract first-time broadband users. The speed will be one megabyte. The company is also increasing the speed of both of its existing products to 2Mb and 3Mb respectively. BT is also reducing the connection charge for all products by E10 to E40. The move represents the latest move in what has become one of Ireland's most fiercly contested industries. ...why can't the IOM regulator require MT to reduce its prices in view of its monopoly situation.... Declan
one of Ireland's most fiercly contested industries. Again your answer is in your post. Telecommunications isn't a fiercly contested industry on the Isle of Man and there doesn't seem to be the political will to make it so. But is it even feasible do we have enough consumers to make it worthwhile for one organisation to break into it.

rallybug
I'd be quite happy if they increased the upload speed to 512Kb or 1Mb from 256kb - the current 2Mb download speed is ample for my needs.
TheTool
Well i think the price structure needs to be sorted out, in the UK 2 meg is on average £17.99 a month. But we pay an extra £10 to go from the isle of man the the uk so i guess its value for money
manxchatterbox
why doesn't MT just provide a level of braodband for free....surely there are commercial ways of otherwise covering the cost.....
asitis
The same monopoly is unable to supply the same offers as 02 in the UK for all its services and makes massive profits (per capita) surely it would not be too much for the parent company to avail its captive audience the same benefits as all its other customers.
